As previously mentioned, Overwatch 2is actively in development with an ongoing beta. In those years, Blizzard has been developing multiple projects. The Blizzard side of things, however, hasn’t been sitting on its laurels. It’s uncommon for a large publisher like Blizzard to go half a decade without a new game release, even if the larger Activision Blizzard keeps pumping out Call of Duty games at a breakneck pace. Before this 6-year drought, the longest Blizzard had ever gone without releasing a new game was the period between the company’s MMO World of Warcraft and StarCraft II - which were released 2072 days apart. That’s a 6-year-old game with a sequel in beta testing right now. What has Blizzard been up to? - We need to go back to the release of Overwatch to find the most recent new game from Blizzard. This community anger is leading fans to echo the same complaints about Immortal, like this claim that Blizzard is farming Immortal development or that Immortal is a reskin of an existing NetEase game called Crusaders of Light (which Blizzard says is also not true). It feels like a lifetime since Overwatch was released. Kripparian has often been a vocal critic of Hearthstone, the Blizzard game he plays the most. On YouTube, even popular Blizzard content maker Octavian “Kripparrian” Morosan is being called a shill and receiving mostly downvotes on a video where he says people should give Diablo: Immortal a chance. The anger surrounding Diablo: Immortal is reaching high levels. It’s a very good partnership, where we’re all in it together. It feels like one team, even though we’re not physically together all the time. From both sides, we can come up with ideas and work on implementation. There’s no clear divide - you do this we do that. When I asked what each company was working on for the game, Hsu responded: One popular refrain you see in these angry threads is that Blizzard has farmed the game out to NetEase.
